Rachel Birkedal

SENIOR CASE MANAGER

Rachel Birkedal is a Senior Case Manager who has worked at ZLG since September of 2016.  She speaks English and Spanish and enjoys working on Adjustment of Status based on U-Visa cases.  She also has extensive experience with asylum and SIJ/Family Court cases.

Rachel earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.  Rachel has worked as a tutor and Interim Director of Abriendo Puertas, an after-school program in North Carolina; with SARAR Transformación in Tepoztlan, Mexico through the Young Adults in Global Mission Program; and as a Program Assistant to the Refugee and Immigrant Program at The Advocates for Human Rights through the Lutheran Volunteer Corp.  Rachel studied abroad in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala and lived and worked in Tepoztlan, Morelos, Mexico from 2013 to 2014.

Rachel enjoys working with people from a variety of backgrounds.  She says, “Our clients have unique and varied stories: from beautiful love stories to traumatic experiences that highlight human resilience, and everything in between.  I am honored to accompany our clients in their unique journeys. I hope that by doing so, we make it easier to navigate the U.S. immigration system and that our clients find support and welcome.”

In her free time, Rachel enjoys biking, studying the Indonesian language and spending time with family.
